Qua Cursum Ventus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAA CACA DADA AAAA EAFA CAGA AHCHAs ships becalm'd at eve that lay | A |
With canvas drooping side by side | B |
Two towers of sail at dawn of day | A |
Are scarce long leagues apart descried | A |
- | |
When fell the night upsprung the breeze | C |
And all the darkling hours they plied | A |
Nor dreamt but each the self same seas | C |
By each was cleaving side by side | A |
- | |
E'en so but why the tale reveal | D |
Of those whom year by year unchang'd | A |
Brief absence join'd anew to feel | D |
Astounded soul from soul estrang'd | A |
- | |
At dead of night their sails were fill'd | A |
And onward each rejoicing steer'd | A |
Ah neither blame for neither will'd | A |
Or wist what first with dawn appear'd | A |
- | |
To veer how vain On onward strain | E |
Brave barks In light in darkness too | A |
Through winds and tides one compass guides | F |
To that and your own selves be true | A |
- | |
But O blithe breeze and O great seas | C |
Though ne'er that earliest parting past | A |
On your wide plain they join again | G |
Together lead them home at last | A |
- | |
One port methought alike they sought | A |
One purpose hold where'er they fare | H |
O bounding breeze O rushing seas | C |
At last at last unite them there | H |
