Noli Aemulari Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCB DADA EFEF

In controversial foul impurenessA
The peace that is thy light to theeB
Quench not in faith and inner surenessA
Possess thy soul and let it beB
-
No violence perverse persistentC
What cannot be can bring to beB
No zeal what is make more existentC
And strife but blinds the eyes that seeB
-
What though in blood their souls embruingD
The great the good and wise they curseA
Still sinning what they know not doingD
Stand still forbear nor make it worseA
-
By curses by denunciationE
The coming fate they cannot stayF
Nor thou by fiery indignationE
Though just accelerate the dayF
