Even The Winds And The Sea Obey Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFGHIHIJFKF LMLM

Said the Poet I wouldn't maintainA
As the mystical German has doneB
That the land inexistent till thenC
To reward him then first saw the sunB
And yet I could deem it was soD
As o'er the new waters he sailedE
That his soul made the breezes to blowD
With his courage the breezes had failedE
His strong quiet purpose had stillF
The hurricane's fury withheldG
The resolve of his conquering willF
The lingering vessel impelledG
For the beings the powers that rangeH
In the air on the earth at our sidesI
Can modify temper and changeH
Stronger things than the winds and the tidesI
By forces occult can the lawsJ
As we style them of nature o'erruleF
Can cause so to say every causeK
And our best mathematics befoolF
Can defeat calculation and planL
Baffle schemes ne'er so wisely designedM
But will bow to the genius of manL
And acknowledge a sovereign mindM
