Duty Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACAADEFGFGHHIIIIJJ KKLLMMANANOPQOPFHFRR FHFH

Duty that's to say complyingA
With whate'er's expected hereB
On your unknown cousin's dyingA
Straight be ready with the tearC
Upon etiquette relyingA
Unto usage nought denyingA
Lend your waist to be embracedD
Blush not even never fearE
Claims of kith and kin connectionF
Claims of manners honour stillG
Ready money of affectionF
Pay whoever drew the billG
With the form conforming dulyH
Senseless what it meaneth trulyH
Go to church the world require youI
To balls the world require you tooI
And marry papa and mamma desire youI
And your sisters and schoolfellows doI
Duty 'tis to take on trustJ
What things are good and right and justJ
And whether indeed they be or be notK
Try not test not feel not see notK
'Tis walk and dance sit down and riseL
By leading opening ne'er your eyesL
Stunt sturdy limbs that Nature gaveM
And be drawn in a Bath chair along to the graveM
'Tis the stern and prompt suppressingA
As an obvious deadly sinN
All the questing and the guessingA
Of the souls own soul withinN
'Tis the coward acquiescenceO
In a destiny's behestP
To a shade by terror madeQ
Sacrificing aye the essenceO
Of all that's truest noblest bestP
'Tis the blind non recognitionF
Or of goodness truth or beautyH
Save by precept and submissionF
Moral blank and moral voidR
Life at very birth destroyedR
Atrophy exinanitionF
DutyH
Yea by duty's prime conditionF
Pure nonentity of dutyH
