Come Home, Come Home! And Where Is Home For Me Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEECC EEDDCC BBFFGC AAEECC

Come home come home and where is home for meA
Whose ship is driving o'er the trackless seaA
To the frail bark here plunging on its wayB
To the wild waters shall I turn and sayB
To the plunging bark or to the salt sea foamC
You are my homeC
-
Fields once I walked in faces once I knewD
Familiar things so old my heart believed them trueD
These far far back behind me lie beforeE
The dark clouds mutter and the deep seas roarE
And speak to them that 'neath and o'er them roamC
No words of homeC
-
Beyond the clouds beyond the waves that roarE
There may indeed or may not be a shoreE
Where fields as green and hands and hearts as trueD
The old forgotten semblance may renewD
And offer exiles driven far o'er the salt sea foamC
Another homeC
-
But toil and pain must wear out many a dayB
And days bear weeks and weeks bear months awayB
Ere if at all the weary traveller hearF
With accents whispered in his wayworn earF
A voice he dares to listen to say ComeG
To thy true homeC
-
Come home come home and where a home hath heA
Whose ship is driving o'er the driving seaA
Through clouds that mutter and o'er waves that roarE
Say shall we find or shall we not a shoreE
That is as is not ship or ocean foamC
Indeed our homeC
