| But thrills and lifts exuberant as she | B |
| Voices some sudden flooding melody | B |
| A land of strength life vigour youth and yet | A |
| An old land grey as I her child am grey | C |
| Filled with the whispers of old thoughts that stir | D |
| And wake like shadows of the past that play | C |
| Deep in the beauty of a child's grave eyes | E |
| And show beneath life's gladness glancing there | F |
| The pathos of a hundred histories | G |
