Epitaph Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCCCDDDEEEFGHIIIJ JJKLL MMNOOPQRRBBB

The Earth SpeaksA
HUSH he drowses drowses deepB
While my quiet arms I keepB
Close about him in his sleepB
Once he glanced at me aghastC
Shuddered from my kiss and passedC
But I hold him here at lastC
He had frenzied thoughts of fameD
Piteous strivings for a nameD
But I called him and he cameD
Called him with the mother callE
That shall on the weary fallE
Whispering Home to all to allE
Fair white skin he looked uponF
Eyes in his with passion shoneG
But my patient love has wonH
There was one he deemed to wedI
But he faltered came insteadI
To my narrow bridal bedI
Vehement his veins and wildJ
Now a dreaming glad eyed childJ
To my kisses reconciledJ
Tender heart and turbulentK
I and he together pentL
In an on of contentL
-
Heaven holds for him no prizeM
Stirless nested here he liesM
In his narrow ParadiseN
When his trump God's Angel blowsO
When he shudders wakens knowsO
I shall hold him close so closeP
He will feel life's aching painQ
Turn his lips to me and thenR
Sink to dreamless sleep againR
So for aye my love I keepB
Here upon my breast asleepB
Hush he drowses drowses deepB
