NOW that our pathways sever hereA
And mine slopes down across the nightB
Whence I shall see you burning clearC
A beacon on the mountain heightB
Now that our pathways sever hereA
I have no kiss I have no tearD
Your eyes my lonely world have litE
With sunset peace that lingers yetF
And on my gladdened heart is writE
No shade of blame and no regretF
Your eyes my sombre world have litE
And made a new world out of itE
Your soul is woven strand and strandG
With mine across the woof of TimeH
Your fingers trickle from my handG
Yet where you go my soul shall climbH
Our souls are woven strand with strandG
Think you the pattern was not plannedG
Love finds a solace in regretF
With the rich past I am contentI
You dare not ask me to forgetF
With memories I am opulentJ
Love finds this solace in regretF
What solace if we had not metF
-
The richest guerdon of this earthK
You gave me like a flower to wearD
My heart is dowered beyond dearthK
A treasure through the dark I bearD
The richest guerdon of this earthK
The knowledge of one woman's worthK
The flower of your dear love is deadL
But Springs come ever with the yearsM
I asked you for your heart insteadL
You gave me more you gave your tearsN
The blossom of your love is deadL
But all its fragrance is not fledL
Our ways lie solitary longO
And we have done with halt and restP
On to the goal the others throngO
No longer may we fare abreastP
Our ways lie solitary longO
Yet through my sorrow laughs this songO
Our pathways only now beginQ
To close the circle in completeR
Until our purpose we shall winQ
Until again far off we meetR
Our pathways only now beginQ
To narrow narrow narrow inQ
-
The race is ready to be runS
But clear and certain is our questP
Your heart the prize that will be wonS
This dallying was but a testP
To try us ere the race be runS
Now now the journey is begunS
Chance is not chance but very wiseT
I might have missed you blindly LoU
The countersign Without disguiseT
The soul I seek at last I knowU
Chance is not chance but very wiseT
We part that we may recogniseT
