A.d. 19-? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEEDC

AS in some quiet city bathed in sleepA
Where like a kiss the twilight lingerethB
When suddenly the earth stirs far beneathB
Just moves then pauses and a silence deepA
Falls on all ere the second shock should sweepA
Spire column pinnacle to shapeless deathB
And white face peers at white face and no breathB
Is drawn and every heart forgets to leapA
So now across this quiet dreaming worldC
The first faint shock has thrilled and men aghastD
Wait for the second whose blind forces pentE
Shall in one last convulsion find their ventE
And all the builded fabrics of the pastD
Shall be in ruins on their builders hurledC
