To The Cricket Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEEDDEDidst thou not tease and fret me to and fro | A |
Sweet spirit of this summer circled field | B |
With that quiet voice of thine that would not yield | B |
Its meaning though I mused and sought it so | A |
But now I am content to let it go | A |
To lie at length and watch the swallows pass | C |
As blithe and restful as this quiet grass | C |
Content only to listen and to know | A |
That years shall turn and summers yet shall shine | D |
And I shall lie beneath these swaying trees | E |
Still listening thus haply at last to seize | E |
And render in some happier verse divine | D |
That friendly homely haunting speech of thine | D |
That perfect utterance of content and ease | E |
