To My Daughter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK LBLB

O little one daughter my dearestA
With your smiles and your beautiful curlsB
And your laughter the brightest and clearestC
O gravest and gayest of girlsB
-
With your hands that are softer than rosesD
And your lips that are lighter than flowersE
And that innocent brow that disclosesD
A wisdom more lovely than oursE
-
With your locks that encumber or scatterF
In a thousand mercurial gleamsG
And those feet whose impetuous patterF
I hear and remember in dreamsG
-
With your manner of motherly dutyH
When you play with your dolls and are wiseI
With your wonders of speech and the beautyH
In your little imperious eyesI
-
When I hear you so silverly ringingJ
Your welcome from chamber or stairK
When you run to me kissing and clingingJ
So radiant so rosily fairK
-
I bend like an ogre above youL
I bury my face in your curlsB
I fold you I clasp you I love youL
O baby queen blossom of girlsB
