Spring On The River Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBACCA ADDDAEEA ADDDADDA ADDDAFFA

O sun shine hot on the riverA
For the ice is turning an ashen hueB
And the still bright water is looking throughB
And the myriad streams are greeting youB
With a ballad of life to the giverA
From forest and field and sunny townC
Meeting and running and tripping downC
With laughter and song to the riverA
-
Oh the din on the boats by the riverA
The barges are ringing while day availsD
With sound of hewing and hammering nailsD
Planing and painting and swinging pailsD
All day in their shrill endeavorA
For the waters brim over their wintry cupE
And the grinding ice is breaking upE
And we must away down the riverA
-
Oh the hum and the toil of the riverA
The ridge of the rapid sprays and skipsD
Loud and low by the water's lipsD
Tearing the wet pines into stripsD
The saw mill is moaning everA
The little grey sparrow skips and callsD
On the rocks in the rain of the water fallsD
And the logs are adrift in the riverA
-
Oh restlessly whirls the riverA
The rivulets run and the cataract dronesD
The spiders are flitting over the stonesD
Summer winds float and the cedar moansD
And the eddies gleam and quiverA
O sun shine hot shine long and abideF
In the glory and power of the summer tideF
On the swift longing face of the riverA
