Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBEB FGFH DIDI

Songs that could span the earthA
When leaping thought had stirred themB
In many an hour since birthA
We heard or dreamed we heard themB
-
Sometimes to all their swayC
We yield ourselves half fearingD
Sometimes with hearts grown greyC
We curse ourselves for hearingD
-
We toil and but beginE
In vain our spirits fret themB
We strive and cannot winE
Nor evermore forget themB
-
A light that will not standF
That comes and goes in flashesG
Fair fruits that in the handF
Are turned to dust and ashesH
-
Yet still the deep thoughts ringD
Around and through and through usI
Sweet mights that make us singD
But bring no resting to usI
