At the bleached crossing of two streets and dream | B |
With brain scarce conscious now the hurrying stream | B |
Of noonday passengers is done Two hags | A |
Stand at an open doorway piled with bags | A |
And jabber hideously Just at their feet | C |
A small half naked child screams in the street | C |
A blind man yonder a mere hunch of rags | A |
Keeps the scant shadow of the eaves and scowls | A |
Counting his coppers Through the open glare | D |
Thunders an empty wagon from whose trail | E |
A lean dog shoots into the startled square | D |
Wildly revolves and soothes his hapless tail | E |
Piercing the noon with intermittent howls | A |
