One Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

The trees rustle the wind blowsA
Merrily out of the townB
The shadows creep the sun goesA
Steadily over and downB
-
In a brown gloom the moats gleamC
Slender the sweet wife standsD
Her lips are red her eyes dreamC
Kisses are warm on her handsD
-
The child moans the hours slipE
Bitterly over her headF
In a gray dusk the tears dripE
Mother is up there deadF
-
The hermit hears the strange brightG
Murmur of life at playH
In the waste day and waste nightG
Times to rebel and to prayH
-
The laborer toils in gray wiseI
Godlike and patient and calmJ
The beggar moans his bleared eyesI
Measure the dust in his palmJ
-
The wise man marks the flow and ebbK
Hidden and held aloofL
In his deep mind is laid the webK
Shuttles are driving the woofL
