Rhyme Scheme: ABAACDCD EFEFGAGA HIHIJKJL MNMNOPOP QRQRSASA

'Tis a land where no hurricane fallsA
But the infinite azure regardsB
Its waters for ever its wallsA
Of granite its limitless swardsA
Where the fens to their innermost poolC
With the chorus of May are aringD
And the glades are wind winnowed and coolC
With perpetual springD
-
Where folded and half withdrawnE
The delicate wind flowers blowF
And the bloodroot kindles at dawnE
Her spiritual taper of snowF
Where the limits are met and spannedG
By a waste that no husbandman tillsA
And the earth old pine forests standG
In the hollows of hillsA
-
'Tis the land that our babies beholdH
Deep gazing when none are awareI
And the great hearted seers of oldH
And the poets have known it and thereI
Made halt by the well heads of truthJ
On their difficult pilgrimageK
From the rose ruddy gardens of youthJ
To the summits of ageL
-
Now too as of old it is sweetM
With a presence remote and sereneN
Still its byways are pressed by the feetM
Of the mother immortal its queenN
The huntress whose tresses flung freeO
And her fillets of gold upon earthP
They only have honour to seeO
Who are dreamers from birthP
-
In her calm and her beauty supremeQ
They have found her at dawn or at eveR
By the marge of some motionless streamQ
Or where shadows rebuild or unweaveR
In a murmurous alley of pineS
Looking upward in silent surpriseA
A figure slow moving divineS
With inscrutable eyesA
