In May Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA DEFD AGGA HAAH AAAA IDDI JKLJ MNNM OPPQ

Grief was my master yesternightA
To morrow I may grieve againB
But now along the windy plainC
The clouds have taken flightA
-
The sowers in the furrows goD
The lusty river brimmeth onE
The curtains from the hills are goneF
The leaves are out and loD
-
The silvery distance of the dayA
The light horizons and betweenG
The glory of the perfect greenG
The tumult of the MayA
-
The bobolinks at noonday singH
More softly than the softest fluteA
And lightlier than the lightest luteA
Their fairy tambours ringH
-
The roads far off are towered with dustA
The cherry blooms are swept and thinnedA
In yonder swaying elms the windA
Is charging gust on gustA
-
But here there is no stir at allI
The ministers of sun and shadowD
Horde all the perfumes of the meadowD
Behind a grassy wallI
-
An infant rivulet wind freeJ
Adown the guarded hollow setsK
Over whose brink the violetsL
Are nodding peacefullyJ
-
From pool to pool it prattles byM
The flashing swallows dip and passN
Above the tufted marish grassN
And here at rest am IM
-
I care not for the old distressO
Nor if to morrow bid me moanP
To day is mine and I have knownP
An hour of blessednessQ
