Neither the yacht heraldic nor the stretch	G
Limos and pants Swiss banks or Alpine stocks	H
Shall solace you or quiet the long pain	I
Of cold ancestral disinheritance	H
Severing your friendly commerce with the beasts	H
Gone lapsed and cancelled rendered obsolete	J
As the gonfalon of Bessarabia	K
The shawm the jitney the equestrian order	L
The dark daguerreotypes of Paradise	H

Your brute and sordid commerce with the beasts	H
Scotch your flea bitten bitterness or down	O

Of the long gone Odd Fellows amity	M
Of bunny and scorpion the entente cordiale	B
Of lamb and lion the old nursery fraud	Q
And droll Aesopic zoo in which the chatter	L
Of chimp and chaffinch manticore and mouse	H
Diverts us from all thought of entrec tes	H
Prime ribs and rashers filets mignonnettes	H
Provided for the paired pythons and jackals	H
Off to their catered second honeymoons	H
On Noah s forty day excursion cruise	H

A bald long standing lie and mockery	M
Yet it deserves better than your contempt	R
Think also of that interstellar darkness	H
Silence and desolation from which the Tempter	M
Like a space capsule exiled into orbit	S
Looks down on our green cabinet of peace	H
A place classless and weaponless without	T
Envy or fossil fuel or architecture	M
Think of him as at dawn he views a snail	B
Traveling with blind caution up the spine	U
Of a frond asway with its little inching weight	V
In windless nods that deepen with assent	W
Till the ambler at last comes back to earth	X
Leaving his route as on the boughs of heaven	Y
Traced with a silver scrawl The morning mist	Z
Haunts all about that action till the sun	Y
Makes of it a small glory and the dew	A2
Holds the whole scale of rainbow the accord	B2
Of stars and waters luminously viewed	C2
At the same time by water walking spiders	H
That dimple a surface with their passages	H
In the lewd Viennese catalogue of dreams	H
It s one of the few to speak of without shame	D2

And is without all blemish except one	Y
That it supposes all virtue to stem	F2
From pure simplicity But many cures	H
Of body and of spirit are the fruit	G2
Of cultivated thought Kindness itself	H2
Depends on what we call consideration	Y
Your fear of corruption is a fear of thought	I2
Therefore you would be thoughtless Think again	J2
Consider the perfect hexagrams of snow	K2
Those broadcast emblems of divinity	M
That prove in their unduplicable shapes	H
Insights of Thales and Pythagoras	H
If you must dream dream of the ratio	K2
Of Nine to Six to Four Palladio used	L2
To shape those rooms and chapels where the soul	B
Imagines itself blessed and finds its peace	H
Even in chambers of the Malcontenta	L2
Those just proportions we hypostatize	H
Not as flat prairies but the City of God	L2
