Curriculum Vitae Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EDED DDDD ADAD

As though it were reluctant to be dayA
Morning deploys a scaleB
Of rarities in grayA
And winter settles down in its chain mailB
-
Victorious over legions of gold and redC
The smokey souls of stonesD
Blunt pencillings of leadC
Pare down the world to glintless monotonesD
-
Of graveyard weather vapors of a fenE
We reckon through our poresD
Save for the garbage menE
Our children are the first ones out of doorsD
-
Book bagged and padded out at mouth and noseD
They manufacture ghostsD
George Washington's and Poe'sD
Banquo's the Union and Confederate hosts'D
-
And are themselves the ghosts file cabinet grayA
Of some departed usD
Signing our lives awayA
On ferned and parslied windows of a busD
