Oh Paddy dear and did you hearA
The news that's going roundB
On the head of bold Ned KellyC
They have placed two thousand poundB
And on Steve Hart Joe Byrne and DanD
Two thousand more they'd giveE
But if the price was doubled boysF
The Kelly gang would liveG
'Tis hard to think such plucky heartsH
In crime should be employedI
'Tis by police persecutionJ
They have all been much annoyedI
Revenge is sweet and in the bushK
They can defy the lawL
Such sticking up and plunderingM
You never saw beforeN
'Twas in November Seventy eightO
When theKelly Gang came downP
Just after shooting KennedyC
To famed Euroa townP
To rod the bank of all its goldQ
Was their idea that dayR
Blood horses they were mounted onS
To make their getawayR
So Kelly marched into the bankT
A cheque all in his handU
For to have it changed for moneyC
Of Scott he did demandU
And when that he refused himV
He looking at him straightO
Said 'See here my name's Ned KellyC
And this here man's my mate 'W
With pistols pointed at his nutX
Poor Scott did stand amazedY
His stick he would have liked to cutX
But was with funk half crazedY
The poor cashier with real fearZ
Stood trembling at the kneesA2
But at last they both seen 'twas no useB2
And handed out the keysA2
The safe was quickly gutted thenC2
The drawers turned out as wellD2
The Kellys being quite politeE2
Like any noble swellD2
With flimsies gold and silver coinF2
The threepennies and allG2
Amouning to two thousand poundsH2
They made a glorious haulG2
'Now hand out all your firearms 'W
The robber boldly saidI2
'And all your amunitionF2
Or a bullet through your headI2
Now get your wife and childrenF2
Come man now look aliveG
All jump into this buggyC
And we'll take you for a drive 'W
They took them to a stationF2
About three miles awayR
And kept them close imprisonedJ2
Until the following dayR
The owner of the stationF2
And those in his employK2
And a few unwary travellersL2
Their company did enjoyK2
An indian hawker fell in tooM2
As everybody knowsN2
He came in handy to the gangO2
By fitting them with clothesP2
Then with their worn out clothingM
They made a few bonfiresL2
And then destroyed the telegraphQ2
By cutting down the wiresL2
Oh Paddy dear do shed a tearR2
I can't but sympathizeS2
Those Kellys are the devilsT2
For they've made another riseS2
This time across the billabongM
On Morgan's ancient beatU2
They've robbed the banks of thousandsV2
And in safety did retreatU2
The matter may be serious PatW2
But still I can't but laughQ2
To think the tales the bobbies toldQ
Must all amount to chaffQ2
They said they had them all hemmed inF2
They could not get awayR
But they turned up in New South WalesX2
And made the journey payR
They rode into Jerilderie townF2
At twelve o'clock at nightE2
Aroused the troopers from their bedsY2
And gave them an awful frightE2
They took them in their night shirtsZ2
Ashamed I am to tellD2
They covered them with revolversL2
And locked them in a cellD2
They next acquainted the womenfolkM
That they were going to stayR
And take possession of the campA3
Until the following dayR
They fed their horses in the stallsB3
Without the slightest fearZ
Then went to rest their weary limbsC3
Till daylight did appearZ
Next morning being Sunday mornF2
Of course they must be goodD3
They dressed themselves in troopers' clothesP2
And Ned he chopped some woodD3
No one there suspected themE3
As troopers they did passF3
And Dan the most religious oneF2
Took the sergeant's wife to massF3
They spent the day most pleasantlyC
Had plenty of good cheerZ
Fried beefsteak and onionsG3
Tomato sauce and beerZ
The ladies in attendanceH3
Indulged in pleasant talkM
And just to ease the troopers mindsI3
They took them for a walkM
On Monday morning earlyC
Still masters of the groundB
They took their horses to the forgeJ3
And had them shod all roundB
Then back they came and mountedK3
Theri plans all laid so wellD2
In company with troopersL2
They stuck up the Royal HotelD2
They bailed up all the occupantsL3
And placed them in a roomM3
Saying 'Do as we comand youM2
Or death will be your doom 'W
A chineses cook 'No savvy' criedN3
Not knowing what to fearZ
But they brought him to his sensesO3
With a lift under the earA
All who now approached the houseP3
Just shared a similar fateO
In hardly any time at allG2
The number was twenty eightO
They shouted freely for all handsQ3
And paid for all they drankM
And two of them remained in chargeR3
And two went to the bankM
The farce was here repeatedS3
As I've already toldQ
They bailed up all the banker's clerksT3
And robbed them of their goldQ
The manager could not be foundB
And Kelly in great wrathU3
Searched high and low and luckilyC
He found him in his bathU3
The robbing o'er they mounted thenF2
To make a quick retreatU2
They swept away with all their lootV3
By Morgans' ancient beatU2
And where they've gone I do not knowF2
If I did I wouldn't tellD2
So now until I hear from themE3
I'll bid you all farewellD2
