| No grass the water far apart | C |

| The wretched bullock teams drew up | D |

| They d struggled on through dust and drought | A |

| A rank unholy stench | G |
| The bullocks and the bullockies | H |
| Drank deep their thirst to quench | G |

| At last one died but Dan was calm | P |

| He knelt beside the bullock s corpse | H |
| And offered up a prayer | O |
