You'll Tell Her, Won't You? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFHIJIKBIBI

You'll tell her won't you Say to her I diedA
As a brave soldier should true to the lastB
She'll bear it better if a though of priceC
Comes in to stay her the first shock o'erpastB
You'll tell her won't you Show her how I layD
Pressing the pictured lips I loved so wellE
And how my last thoughts floated far awayD
To home and her with love I could not tellE
You'll tell her won't you not how hard it wasF
To give up life for her sake so dearG
Nay nay not so Say 'twas a noble causeF
And I did die for it without a tearH
You'll tell her won't you She'll be glad to knowI
Her soldier stood undaunted true as steelJ
His heart with her his bosom to the foeI
When the blow struck no human power could breakK
You'll tell her won't you Say too we shall meetB
In God's Hereafter where our love shall growI
More holy for this parting and more sweetB
And cleansed from every stain it knew belowI
