Rhyme Scheme: AAABCCCD EEEBFFFG HHHIJJKI LLLGMMMG

Children of the glorious deadA
Who for freedom fought and bledA
With her banner o'er you spreadA
On to victoryB
Not for stern ambition's prizeC
Do our hopes and wishes riseC
Lo our leader from the skiesC
Bids us do or dieD
-
Ours is not the tented fieldE
We no earthly weapons wieldE
Light and love our sword and shieldE
Truth our panoplyB
This is proud oppression's hourF
Storms are round us shall we cowerF
While beneath a despot's powerF
Groans the suffering slaveG
-
While on every southern galeH
Comes the helpless captive's taleH
And the voice of woman's wailH
And of man's despairI
While our homes and rights are dearJ
Guarded still with watchful fearJ
Shall we coldly turn our earK
From the suppliant's prayerI
-
Never by our Country's shameL
Never by a Saviour's claimL
To the men of every nameL
Whom he died to saveG
Onward then ye fearless bandM
Heart to heart and hand to handM
Yours shall be the patriot's standM
Or the martyr's graveG
