Missing Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEE FGHGIJIJEE KLKLMNONEE PLQRSDTDEE

In the cool sweet hush of a wooded nookA
Where the May buds sprinkle the green old moundB
And the winds and the birds and the limpid brookA
Murmur their dreams with a drowsy soundB
Who lies so still in the plushy mossC
With his pale cheek pressed on a breezy pillowD
Couched where the light and the shadow crossC
Through the flickering fringe of the willowD
Who lies alasE
So still so chill in the whispering grassE
-
A soldier clad in the Zouave dressF
A bright haired man with his lips apartG
One hand thrown up o'er his frank dead faceH
And the other clutching his pulseless heartG
Lies here in the shadows cool and dimI
His musket swept by a trailing boughJ
With a careless grace in each quiet limbI
And a wound on his manly browJ
A wound alasE
Whence the warm blood drips on the quiet grassE
-
The violets peer from their dusky bedsK
With a tearful dew in their great pure eyesL
The lilies quiver their shining headsK
Their pale lips full of a sad surpriseL
And the lizard darts through the glistening fernM
And the squirrel rustles the branches hoaryN
Strange birds fly out with a cry to batheO
Their wings in the sunset gloryN
While the shadows passE
O'er the quiet face and the dewy grassE
-
God pity the bride who waits at homeP
With her lily cheeks and her violet eyesL
Dreaming the sweet old dreams of loveQ
While her lover is walking in ParadiseR
God strengthen her heart as the days go byS
And the long drear nights of her vigil followD
Nor bird nor moon nor whispering windT
May breathe the tale of the hollowD
Alas AlasE
The secret is safe with the woodland grassE
