Encore Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIH E E JKLKMNBO PHQHRSHS

The singer stood in a blaze of lightA
And fronted the flowery throngB
Her lips parted with her greeting smileC
Her soul soared out in her songB
Now hovering like an imprisoned birdD
With is plainings thrilling nighE
Then faintly sweet as the reapers hearF
A lark afar in the skyE
-
And forth like thunder the praises brokeG
And the singer bowed and smiledH
And flowers fell fast in a scented stormI
But she was not to be wiledH
'Shall I throw my gifts to this fickle throng '-
She thought with a bitter sighE
'What do they care for my simple song '-
As she courtesied a glad good byE
-
The singer sat in her lonely roomJ
As the stars peeped out of the hazeK
And her voice poured forth in its sweetest gushL
Though none was beside to praiseK
Till she saw a form to her window creepM
And crouch by its misty paneN
An old dame wept at the wondrous songB
That gave back her youth againO
-
The singer stirred not nor made a signP
That she saw where the listener stoodH
But once and again she raised her voiceQ
And poured out its golden floodH
And only ceased when the minster bellsR
Shook out their evening clangS
Then one thanked God for the song she heardH
And one for the song she sangS
