Emancipation Hymn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MINI OPQP

Praise we the Lord let songs resoundA
To earth s remotest shoreB
Songs of thanksgiving songs of praiseC
For we are slaves no moreB
-
-
Praise we the Lord His power hath rentD
The chains that held us longE
His voice is mighty as of oldF
And still His arm is strongE
-
-
Praise we the Lord His wrath aroseG
His arm our fetters brokeH
The tyrant dropped the lash and weI
To liberty awokeH
-
-
Praise we the Lord let ho y songsJ
Rise from these happy islesK
O let us not unworthy proveL
On whom His bounty smilesK
-
-
And cease we not the fight of faithM
Till all mankind be freeI
Till mercy o er the earth shall flowN
As waters o er the seaI
-
-
Then shall indeed Messiah s reignO
Through nil the world extendP
Then swords to ploughshares shall be turnedQ
And Heaven with earth shall blendP
