Decreed Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDF CGHGIJKJ LMNMOPJP

Into all lives some rain must fallA
Into all eyes some tear drops startB
Whether they fall as gentle showerC
Or fall like fire from an aching heartB
Into all hearts some sorrow must creepD
Into all souls some doubtings comeE
Lashing the waves of life's great deepD
From dimpling waters to seething foamF
-
Over all paths some clouds must lowerC
Under all feet some sharp thorns springG
Tearing the flesh to bitter woundsH
Or entering the heart with their bitter stingG
Upon all brows rough winds must blowI
Over all shoulders a cross be lainJ
Bowing the form in its lofty heightK
Down to the dust in bitter painJ
-
Into all hands some duty's thrustL
Unto all arms some burden's givenM
Crushing the heart with its weary weightN
Or lifting the soul from earth to heavenM
Into all hearts and homes and livesO
God's dear sunlight comes streaming downP
Gilding the ruins of life's great plainJ
Weaving for all a golden crownP
