Verses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFEGGHIJKJ

Observe this Piece which to our Sight does bringA
The fittest Posture for the Swedish KingA
Encompass'd as we think with Armies roundB
Tho' not express'd within this narrow BoundB
Who whilst his warlike and extended HandC
Directs the foremost Ranks to Charge or StandC
Reverts his Face lest That so Fair and YoungD
Should call in doubt the Orders of his TongueD
Whilst the excited and embolden'd RearE
Such Youth beholding and such Features thereF
Devote their plainer Forms and are asham'd to FearE
Thus ev'ry Action ev'ry Grace of thineG
O latest Son of Fame Son of Gustavus LineG
Affects thy Troops with all that can inspireH
A blooming Sweetness and a martial FireI
Fatal to none but thy invading FoeJ
So Lightnings which to all their Brightness shewK
Strike but the Man alone who has provok'd the BlowJ
