The Wit And The Beau Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAABCDCCE FGFFH IJIIJ

Strephon whose Person ev'ry GraceA
Was careful to adornB
Thought by the Beauties of his FaceA
In Silvia's Love to find a placeA
And wonder'd at her ScornB
With Bows and Smiles he did his PartC
But Oh 'twas all in vainD
A Youth less Fine a Youth of ArtC
Had talk'd himself into her HeartC
And wou'd not out againE
-
Strephon with change of Habits press'dF
And urg'd her to admireG
His Love alone the Other dress'dF
As Verse or Prose became it bestF
And mov'd her soft DesireH
-
This found his courtship Strephon endsI
Or makes it to his GlassJ
There in himself now seeks amendsI
Convinc'd that where a Wit pretendsI
A Beau is but an AssJ
