The Unequal Fetters Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABC DEFEE EGEGG EEEEE

Cou'd we stop the time that's flyingA
Or recall itt when 'tis pastB
Put far off the day of DyingA
Or make Youth for ever lastB
To Love wou'd then be worth our costC
-
But since we must loose those GracesD
Which at first your hearts have wonneE
And you seek for in new FacesF
When our Spring of Life is doneE
It wou'd but urdge our ruine onE
-
Free as Nature's first intentionE
Was to make us I'll be foundG
Nor by subtle Man's inventionE
Yeild to be in Fetters boundG
By one that walks a freer roundG
-
Mariage does but slightly tye MenE
Whil'st close Pris'ners we remainE
They the larger Slaves of HymenE
Still are begging Love againE
At the full length of all their chainE
