The Bird And The Arras Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBBBCCCDDEEFF GGHHFF

By neer resemblance see that Bird betray'dA
Who takes the well wrought Arras for a shadeA
There hopes to pearch and with a chearfull TuneB
O're passe the scortchings of the sultry NoonB
But soon repuls'd by the obdurate sceanB
How swift she turns but turns alas in vainB
That piece a Grove this shews an ambient skyC
Where immitated Fowl their pinnions plyC
Seeming to mount in flight and aiming still more highC
All she outstrip's and with a moments prideD
Their understation silent does derideD
Till the dash'd Cealing strikes her to the groundE
No intercepting shrub to break the fall is foundE
Recovering breath the window next she gainesF
Nor fears a stop from the transparent PanesF
-
But we degresse and leaue th' imprison'd wretchG
Now sinking low now on a loftyer stretchG
Flutt'ring in endless cercles of dismayH
Till some kind hand directs the certain wayH
Which through the casement an escape affoardsF
And leads to ample space the only Heav'n of BirdsF
