Reformation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEEFFGGHIDDJJDD KKLLKKKKDDDDDDDMMDDD

A Gentleman most wretched in his LotA
A wrangling and reproving Wife had gotA
Who tho' she curb'd his Pleasures and his FoodB
Call'd him My Dear and did it for his GoodC
Ills to prevent She of all Ills the worstD
So wisely Froward and so kindly CurstD
The Servants too experiment her LungsE
And find they've Breath to serve a thousand TonguesE
Nothing went on for her eternal ClackF
Still rectifying set all Matters backF
Nor Town nor Neighbours nor the Court cou'd pleaseG
But furnish'd Matter for her sharp DiseaseG
To distant Plains at length he gets her downH
With no Affairs to manage of her ownI
Hoping from that unactive State to findD
A calmer Habit grown upon her MindD
But soon return'd he hears her at his DoorJ
As noisy and tempestuous as beforeJ
Yet mildly ask'd How she her Days had spentD
Amidst the Quiet of a sweet ContentD
Where Shepherds 'tend their Flocks and Maids their PailsK
And no harsh Mistress domineers or railsK
Not rail she cries Why I that had no shareL
In their Concerns cou'd not the Trollops spareL
But told 'em they were Sluts And for the SwainsK
My Name a Terror to them still remainsK
So often I reprov'd their slothful FaultsK
And with such Freedom told 'em all my ThoughtsK
That I no more amongst them cou'd resideD
Has then alas the Gentleman reply'dD
One single Month so much their patience try'dD
Where you by Day and but at Seasons dueD
Cou'd with your Clamours their Defects pursueD
How had they shrunk and justly been afraidD
Had they with me one Curtain Lecture heardD
Yet enter Madam and resume your SwayM
Who can't Command must silently ObeyM
In secret here let endless Faults be foundD
Till like Reformers who in States aboundD
You all to Ruin bring and ev'ry Part confoundD
