Lines Written At Thorp Green Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCBDDEFFG HHIJJI CCCKKC

That summer sun whose genial glowA
Now cheers my drooping spirit soA
Must cold and distant beB
And only light our northern climeC
With feeble ray before the timeC
I long so much to seeB
And this soft whispering breeze that nowD
So gently cools my fevered browD
This too alas must turnE
To a wild blast whose icy dartF
Pierces and chills me to the heartF
Before I cease to mournG
-
And these bright flowers I love so wellH
Verbena rose and sweet bluebellH
Must droop and die awayI
Those thick green leaves with all their shadeJ
And rustling music they must fadeJ
And every one decayI
-
But if the sunny summer timeC
And woods and meadows in their primeC
Are sweet to them that roamC
Far sweeter is the winter bareK
With long dark nights and landscapes drearK
To them that are at HomeC
