Farewell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FBGB HIHI JKJK LMLM NONO

Farewell to thee but not farewellA
To all my fondest thoughts of theeB
Within my heart they still shall dwellA
And they shall cheer and comfort meB
O beautiful and full of graceC
If thou hadst never met mine eyeD
I had not dreamed a living faceC
Could fancied charms so far outvieE
-
If I may ne'er behold againF
That form and face so dear to meB
Nor hear thy voice still would I fainG
Preserve for aye their memoryB
-
That voice the magic of whose toneH
Can wake an echo in my breastI
Creating feelings that aloneH
Can make my tranced spirit blestI
-
That laughing eye whose sunny beamJ
My memory would not cherish lessK
And oh that smile whose joyous gleamJ
Nor mortal language can expressK
-
Adieu but let me cherish stillL
The hope with which I cannot partM
Contempt may wound and coldness chillL
But still it lingers in my heartM
-
And who can tell but Heaven at lastN
May answer all my thousand prayersO
And bid the future pay the pastN
With joy for anguish smiles for tearsO
