My times are in Thy hand Psalm XXXIB
-
-
Father I know that all my lifeC
Is portioned out for meD
And the changes that are sure to comeE
I do not fear to seeD
But I ask Thee for a present mindF
Intent on pleasing TheeD
-
I ask Thee for a thoughtful loveG
Through constant watching wiseB
To meet the glad with joyful smilesB
And to wipe the weeping eyesB
And a heart at leisure from itselfH
To soothe and sympathiseB
-
I would not have the restless willI
That hurries to and froJ
Seeking for some great thing to doK
Or secret thing to knowJ
I would be treated as a childL
And guided where I goJ
-
Wherever in the world I amM
In whatsoe'er estateN
I have a fellowship with heartsB
To keep and cultivateN
And a work of lowly love to doK
For the Lord on whom I waitN
-
So I ask Thee for the daily strengthO
To none that ask deniedP
And a mind to blend with outward lifeC
While keeping at Thy sideP
Content to fill a little spaceB
If Thou be glorifiedP
-
And if some things I do not askQ
In my cup of blessing beD
I would have my spirit filled the moreR
With grateful love to TheeD
More careful not to serve Thee muchS
But to please Thee perfectlyD
-
There are briers besetting every pathT
That call for patient careU
There is a cross in every lotV
And an earnest need for prayerU
But a lowly heart that leans on TheeD
Is happy anywhereU
-
In a service which Thy will appointsB
There are no bonds for meD
For my inmost heart is taught the truthW
That makes Thy children freeD
And a life of self renouncing loveG
Is a life of libertyD
