The Lord is risenA
-
Dear Savior of a dying worldB
Where grief and change must beC
In the new grave where Thou wast laidD
My heart lies down with TheeC
O not in cold despair of joyE
Or weariness of painF
But from a hope that shall not dieG
To rise and live againH
-
I would arise in all Thy strengthI
My place on earth to fillJ
To work out all my time of warK
With love's unflinchng willJ
Firm against every doubt of TheeC
For all my future wayL
To walk in Heaven's eternal lightM
Throughout the changing dayL
-
Ah such a day as Thou shalt ownN
When suns have ceased to shineO
A day of burdens borne by TheeC
And work that all was ThineO
Speed Thy bright rising in my heartP
Thy righteous kingdom speedQ
Till my whole life in concord sayL
The Lord is risen indeedQ
-
O for an impulse from Thy loveR
With every coming breathS
To sing that sweet undying songT
Amid the wrecks of deathS
A hail to every mortal pangU
That bids me take my rightM
To glory in the blessed lifeV
Which Thou hast brought to lightM
-
I long to see the hallowed earthW
In new creation riseX
To find the germs of Eden hidY
Where its fallen beauty liesX
To feel the spring tide of a soulZ
By one deep love set freeC
Made meet to lay aside her dustA2
And be at home with TheeC
-
And then there shall be yet an endB2
An end now full to blessC2
How dear to those who watch for TheeC
With human tendernessD2
Then shall the saying come to passE2
That makes our hope completeF2
And rising from the conquered graveG2
Thy parted ones shall meetF2
-
Yes they shall meet and face to faceH2
By heart to heart be knownN
Clothed with Thy Likeness Lord of LifeV
And perfect in their ownN
For this corruptible must riseX
From its corruption freeC
And this frail mortal must put onI2
Thine immortalityC
-
Shine then Thou Resurrection LightM
Upon our sorrows shineO
The fulness of Thy joy be oursJ2
As all our griefs were ThineO
Now in this changing dying lifeV
Our faded hopes restoreK
Till in Thy triumph perfectedK2
We taste of death no moreK
