In The Evening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFG HIJF KLM

The garden rang with musicA
Of inexpressible despairB
A dish of oysters spread on iceC
Smelled like the ocean fresh and sharpD
-
He told me 'I'm a faithful friend '-
And lightly touched my dressE
How different from embracesF
The touch of those two handsG
-
That's how one strokes a cat or birdH
Or looks at slender lady ridersI
Just laughter in his quiet eyesJ
Beneath his light gold lashesF
-
And the despondent voices of the violinsK
Sing out beyond the hanging smokeL
'Give blessings to heaven aboveM
At last you're alone with your beloved '-
