For Osip Mandelstam Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDEFGHIJKLMN

And the town is frozen solid in a viceA
Trees walls snow beneath a glassB
Over crystal on slippery tracks of iceA
the painted sleighs and I together passB
And over St Peters there are poplars crowsC
theres a pale green dome there that glowsC
dim in the sun shrouded dustD
The field of heroes lingers in my thoughtE
Kulikovos barbarian battlegroundF
The frozen poplars like glasses for a toastG
clash now more noisily overheadH
As though it was our wedding and the crowdI
were drinking to our health and happinessJ
But Fear and the Muse take turns to guardK
the room where the exiled poet is banishedL
and the night marching at full paceM
of the coming dawn has no knowledgeN
