Women's Harvest Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDD DEFGFAD ADDDDHIIJAKLH

I am waving a ripe sunflowerA
I am scattering sunflower pollen to the four world quartersB
I am joyful because of my melonsC
I am joyful because of my beansD
I am joyful because of my squashesD
-
The sunflower wavesD
So did the corn waveE
When the wind blew against itF
So did my white corn bendG
When the red lightning descended upon itF
It trembled as the sunflowerA
When the rain beat down its leavesD
-
Great is a ripe sunflowerA
And great was the sun above my corn fieldsD
His fingers lifted up the corn earsD
His hands fashioned my melonsD
And set my beans full in the podsD
Therefore my heart is happyH
And I will lay many blue prayer sticks at the shrine of Ta waI
I will give corn to Ta waI
Yellow corn blue corn black cornJ
I wave the sunflowerA
The sunflower heavy with pollenK
I wave it I turn it I singL
Because I am happyH
