To A Friend Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDBBEFGFGGGI ask but one thing of you only one | A |
That always you will be my dream of you | B |
That never shall I wake to find untrue | B |
All this I have believed and rested on | C |
Forever vanished like a vision gone | D |
Out into the night Alas how few | B |
There are who strike in us a chord we knew | B |
Existed but so seldom heard its tone | E |
We tremble at the half forgotten sound | F |
The world is full of rude awakenings | G |
And heaven born castles shattered to the ground | F |
Yet still our human longing vainly clings | G |
To a belief in beauty through all wrongs | G |
O stay your hand and leave my heart its songs | G |
