The Temple Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE| Between us leapt a gold and scarlet flame | A |
| Into the hollow of the cupped arched blue | B |
| Of Heaven it rose Its flickering tongues up drew | B |
| And vanished in the sunshine How it came | A |
| We guessed not nor what thing could be its name | A |
| From each to each had sprung those sparks which flew | B |
| Together into fire But we knew | B |
| The winds would slap and quench it in their game | A |
| And so we graved and fashioned marble blocks | C |
| To treasure it and placed them round about | D |
| With pillared porticos we wreathed the whole | E |
| And roofed it with bright bronze Behind carved locks | C |
| Flowered the tall and sheltered flame Without | D |
| The baffled winds thrust at a column's bole | E |
