The Pike Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHA CIJAKALMN

In the brown waterA
Thick and silver sheened in the sunshineB
Liquid and cool in the shade of the reedsC
A pike dozedD
Lost among the shadows of stemsE
He lay unnoticedF
Suddenly he flicked his tailG
And a green and copper brightnessH
Ran under the waterA
-
Out from under the reedsC
Came the olive green lightI
And orange flashed upJ
Through the sun thickened waterA
So the fish passed across the poolK
Green and copperA
A darkness and a gleamL
And the blurred reflections of the willows on the opposite bankM
Received itN
