The Giver Of Stars Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDB BEFGHI

Hold your soul open for my welcomingA
Let the quiet of your spirit bathe meB
With its clear and rippled coolnessC
That loose limbed and weary I find restD
Outstretched upon your peace as on a bed of ivoryB
-
Let the flickering flame of your soul play all about meB
That into my limbs may come the keenness of fireE
The life and joy of tongues of flameF
And going out from you tightly strung and in tuneG
I may rouse the blear eyed worldH
And pour into it the beauty which you have begottenI

Patty : MUST read page 14 of Gilly MacMillan’sbook, ODD CHILD OUT recounting a Somalian refugee fleeing and giving birth outside in a desert and how “the stars coaxed her baby out of her body” Amazing how I read book today and now, in the middle of the night, I just discovered this wonderful poet, Amy Lowell!
