The Garden By Moonlight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJGKLGMNOPGG GQIR

A black cat among rosesA
Phlox lilac misted under a first quarter moonB
The sweet smells of heliotrope and night scented stockC
The garden is very stillD
It is dazed with moonlightE
Contented with perfumeF
Dreaming the opium dreams of its folded poppiesG
Firefly lights open and vanishH
High as the tip buds of the golden glowI
Low as the sweet alyssum flowers at my feetJ
Moon shimmer on leaves and trellisesG
Moon spikes shafting through the snowball bushK
Only the little faces of the ladies' delight are alert and staringL
Only the cat padding between the rosesG
Shakes a branch and breaks the chequered patternM
As water is broken by the falling of a leafN
Then you comeO
And you are quiet like the gardenP
And white like the alyssum flowersG
And beautiful as the silent sparks of the firefliesG
Ah Beloved do you see those orange liliesG
They knew my motherQ
But who belonging to me will they knowI
When I am goneR
