The End Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDBAEFGEFGThroughout the echoing chambers of my brain | A |
I hear your words in mournful cadence toll | B |
Like some slow passing bell which warns the soul | B |
Of sundering darkness Unrelenting fain | A |
To batter down resistance fall again | C |
Stroke after stroke insistent diastole | D |
The bitter blows of truth until the whole | B |
Is hammered into fact made strangely plain | A |
Where shall I look for comfort Not to you | E |
Our worlds are drawn apart our spirit's suns | F |
Divided and the light of mine burnt dim | G |
Now in the haunted twilight I must do | E |
Your will I grasp the cup which over runs | F |
And with my trembling lips I touch the rim | G |
