The Captured Goddess Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDE FGAH AAAAI JEKAAAAGAALA MKMNAOPQ MOEA R SKA

Over the housetopsA
Above the rotating chimney potsA
I have seen a shiver of amethystB
And blue and cinnamon have flickeredC
A momentD
At the far end of a dusty streetE
-
Through sheeted rainF
Has come a lustre of crimsonG
And I have watched moonbeamsA
Hushed by a film of palest greenH
-
It was her wingsA
GoddessA
Who stepped over the cloudsA
And laid her rainbow feathersA
Aslant on the currents of the airI
-
I followed her for longJ
With gazing eyes and stumbling feetE
I cared not where she led meK
My eyes were full of coloursA
Saffrons rubies the yellows of berylsA
And the indigo blue of quartzA
Flights of rose layers of chrysopraseA
Points of orange spirals of vermilionG
The spotted gold of tiger lily petalsA
The loud pink of bursting hydrangeasA
I followedL
And watched for the flashing of her wingsA
-
In the city I found herM
The narrow streeted cityK
In the market place I came upon herM
Bound and tremblingN
Her fluted wings were fastened to her sides with cordsA
She was naked and coldO
For that day the wind blewP
Without sunshineQ
-
Men chaffered for herM
They bargained in silver and goldO
In copper in wheatE
And called their bids across the market placeA
-
The Goddess weptR
-
Hiding my face I fledS
And the grey wind hissed behind meK
Along the narrow streetsA
