Pickthorn Manor: 49 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEFEDDD

She smiled a little wan and ravelled smileA
Then came to him and on his shoulder laidB
Her head and they two rested there awhileA
Each taking comfort Not a word was saidC
But when he put his hand upon her breastD
And felt her beating heart and with his lipsE
Sought solace for her and himself She startedF
As one sharp lashed with whipsE
And pushed him from her moaning his dumb questD
Denied and shuddered from And he distrestD
Loosened his wife and long they sat there partedD
