Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDCCE

Then shame swept over her and held her numbA
Hiding her anguished face against the seatB
At last she rose a woman stricken dumbA
And trailed away with slowly dragging feetB
Gervase looked after her but feared to passC
The barrier set between them All his rareD
Joy broke to fragments worse than that unrealE
And standing lonely thereD
His swollen heart burst out and on the grassC
He flung himself and wept He knew alasC
The loss so great his life could never healE
