Petals Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCABC DEFDEFGHIGJI

Life is a streamA
On which we strewB
Petal by petal the flower of our heartC
The end lost in dreamA
They float past our viewB
We only watch their glad early startC
-
Freighted with hopeD
Crimsoned with joyE
We scatter the leaves of our opening roseF
Their widening scopeD
Their distant employE
We never shall know And the stream as it flowsF
Sweeps them awayG
Each one is goneH
Ever beyond into infinite waysI
We alone stayG
While years hurry onJ
The flower fared forth though its fragrance still staysI
