La Vie De Boheme Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDDBCBAEFGHHBBD HHDHHHHHH IHHIJDJJHDAlone I whet my soul against the keen | A |
Unwrinkled sky with its long stretching blue | B |
I polish it with sunlight and pale dew | B |
And damascene it with young blowing leaves | C |
Into the handle of my life I set | D |
Sprigs of mignonette | D |
And periwinkle | B |
Twisted into sheaves | C |
The colors laugh and twinkle | B |
Twined bands of roadways liquid in the sheen | A |
Of street lamps and the ruby shine of cabs | E |
Glisten for my delight all down its length | F |
And there are sudden sparks | G |
Of morning ripplings over tree fluttered pools | H |
My soul is fretted full of gleams and darks | H |
Pulsing and still | B |
Smooth edged untarnished girded in my soul | B |
I walk the world | D |
- | |
But in its narrow alleys | H |
The low hung dust thick valleys | H |
Where the mob shuffles its empty tread | D |
My soul is blunted against dullard wits | H |
Smeared with sick juices | H |
Nicked impotent for other than low uses | H |
Its arabesques and sparkling subtleties | H |
Crusted to grey and all its changing surfaces | H |
Spread with unpalpitant monotonies | H |
- | |
I re create myself upon the polished sky | I |
A honing strop above converging roofs | H |
The patterns show again like buried proofs | H |
Of old lost empires bursting on the eye | I |
In hieroglyphed and graven splendor | J |
The whirling winds brush past my head | D |
And prodigal once more a reckless spender | J |
Of disregarded beauty a defender | J |
Of undesired faiths | H |
walk the world | D |
